Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif
Riyadh - Arab Today

The historic speech by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif at the 71st UN General Assembly session in New York won praise and appreciation from the members of the diplomatic community, citizens and expatriates on Thursday.
Describing Wednesday’s speech as “significant,” Bangladesh Ambassador Golam Moshi said that his country’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina already pledged her support to join the Kingdom in the fight against terror.
“It was a comprehensive speech, which sent the correct message to the world about the Kingdom’s stand on international, regional and local affairs,” he said.
Pakistan Ambassador Manzur Ul Haq said: “The crown prince, in his speech to the UN General Assembly, rightly said that combating terrorism should be a joint international responsibility. “Pakistan has therefore joined the Islamic military alliance against terrorism. We will extend unequivocal support to the Kingdom if its sovereignty and territorial integrity are threatened. We wish well for Saudi Arabia and pray for its safety and security.”
Sri Lankan Ambassador Azmi Thassim said: “As a country which suffered more than three decades due to terror, we totally agree with the crown prince’s statement that combating terrorism should be a joint international responsibility. We call for cooperation as per international law and principles on which the UN was built, which equates the sovereignty of all nations.”
Musad Al-Zayani, a Saudi journalist based in Dubai, said that the crown prince’s speech was an eye-opener about the Kingdom’s principles and policies on all national and international issues. “The Kingdom’s humanitarian assistance to the needy and its efforts for regional, as well as global peace, was well explained,” he said.
Seyed Hamid Moulana, a business executive who has been in the Kingdom for over 35 years, said the crown prince’s speech at the UNGA is being welcomed by the expatriate community. The crown prince very correctly said that the Kingdom has been a victim of terror attacks well before the 9/11 tragedy, he said.
It is totally unfair to blame the Kingdom for this tragedy (9/11) just because few misguided young nationals were allegedly involved in the attack. The Kingdom is a member of every anti-terror coalition in operation now, in addition to the millions of dollars it continues to contribute for eradication of terrorism in the world,” said Moulana.
