
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak met here Friday to discuss bilateral ties and further development of China's relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). During a closed-door meeting with China's President Xi Jinping, both leaders also discussed a five year programme for economic and trade cooperation and agreed to elevate the current cooperation between both countries into a comprehensive strategic partnership, Xinhua reported. Chinese President arrived here Thursday evening for a state visit to Malaysia, the second leg of his maiden trip to Southeast Asia since taking office in March. After the meeting, the two leaders will signed agreements today to boost economic cooperation and defense ties with Malaysia.
