Britain's Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and head of the Syrian opposition High Negotiating Committee (HNC) Riyad Farid Hijab have discussed the tragic situation in Syria, particularly in Aleppo and Damascus countryside.
In a telephone call on Thursday night, Hijab thanked Johnson for stances adopted by the UK government in support of the Syrian people, as well as efforts it exerts to alleviate their suffering.
Meanwhile, Hijab urged the UK government to back efforts that aim to stop "crimes of the regime and its allies outside the UN Security Council ... which is fully paralyzed by repeated Russian vetoes."
The Syrian official, in this regard, underscored the importance of the role played by the UK in stopping these crimes and working on punishing offenders.
