Bahrain on Monday rejected Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman's statements regarding the Kingdom's interior affairs, describing them "untruthful" and do not reflect the real situation in Bahrain. Bahrain respects its laws and the rule of law and treats its citizens appropriately in compliance with laws, and that nobody has ever been arrested without legal justifications, the Foreign Ministry indicated in a statement, forwarded by BNA, adding that the Kingdom also respected public freedoms and human rights. Also, the Ministry denounced the Iranian "misstatements" and emphasized the need for the Iranian government to observe good neighborliness, respect international law, refrain from meddling in internal affairs and try to build mutual confidence and friendly relations in order to serve the interest of both countries. On Sunday, Iranian foreign ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afgham said that the arrest in Bahrain of Khalil Marzooq, the deputy leader of Al-Wefaq society, was "a baseless excuse."
