Speaker Ahmed bin Mohamed al Jarwan
Sharm El Sheikh - Arab Today

The Arab Parliament (AP) urged on Tuesday the US Congress to abolish the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, aka JASTA.

Speaking at the end of the AP general session in Sharm El Sheikh, Speaker Ahmed bin Mohamed al Jarwan said the law should be abolished as it neglects all local and international rules, and lacks the globally-applied legal and political bases.

The UN Charter prohibits the enforcement of any local law on other countries, Jarwan stressed, calling on the US Congressmen to annul the JASTA as soon as possible to maintain international relations among countries.

Jarwan further called on all Arab, African and Islamic countries, as well as the European Parliament to show due respect for principles of the international law and the UN Charter.
Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Mohamed al Jarwan called on all Arab countries to unify their efforts to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and establish an independent Palestinian state, with Al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) as its capital.

Speaking about the Syrian crisis, Jarwan warned of the deteriorating situation in the Arab country and urged the international community to intervene to end the suffering of the Syrian people.

The AP speaker further called for ending the conflict in Libya and expressed his support for all agreements signed by Libyan parties to end the Libyan crisis and promote democracy in the country.

Commenting on the latest developments in Iraq, Jarwan praised efforts exerted by the Iraqi army to liberate Iraqi cities from the terrorist Daesh group.

He also called on Turkish troops to immediately withdraw from Iraqi cities and maintain Iraq’s sovereignty and unity.

At the end of his speech, Jarwan prompted the Saudi-led Arab coalition and the internationally-recognized Yemeni government to form a panel to probe the killing of innocent people in Yemen.
