The Lebanese army arrested four Syrians who were trying to sneak into Lebanon with a weapon-loaded vehicle on Wednesday . "Within the framework of its Lebanese-Syrian border control mission, the army forces stopped a blue car on Wednesday in the area of Wadi Hmayed in Arsal, which was illegally smuggled from the Syrian territory with four Syrians on board," said a statement issued by the Lebanese army. According to the Lebanese army, The car was loaded with " riffles, guns and ammunition, in addition to a number of hand grenades." The arrestees have been referred to the Lebanese authorities and an investigation has been launched. Arsal, a Sunni majority town near the Lebanese-Syrian border, is hosting around 25,000 Syrian refugees. The town has a 50 km long border line with Syria and the Lebanese army erected checkpoints on the hills overlooking the Syrian territories. It has frequently been targeted by Syrian shells, which prompted President Michel Suleiman to call on the Arab League and the United Nations to interfere to prevent any further "military activities."
