Khartoum - Abedalgoum Ashmeag

Washington expressed its concern about the renewal of tribal violence in Darfur, confirming it ?continues to urge and encourage the parties to abandon violence.? A meeting between Head of the Regional Authority of Darfur Dr Tijani Sissi, and Charges ?d'Affaires of the United States to Khartoum, Joseph D. Stafford, on Wednesday discussed the ?situation in the region. Stafford has renewed his invitation to all parties in the region to renounce ?violence and resort to dialogue which leads to peace. Stafford insisted on the importance of armed movements of Darfur announcing their adherence ?to Doha document for peace. He praised the initiative announced by Head of the African Union – ?United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) Mohammed Ben Shembas that aims to hold a direct ?dialogue with the armed movements. In a special statement with Arab Today, a governmental official, who preferred to be kept ?anonymous, criticised the stance of the United States of America towards security and peace ?issues in his country.? He added in a brief statement that the American administration did not practice anything  on the ground that reflects keenness in overcoming the crisis in Darfur.?
