US Assistant Secretary for Military Affairs in Baghdad

The Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military affairs Andrew J. Shapiro arrived at Baghdad on Sunday to head the US delegation for military affairs. The Iraqi Foreign ministry Statement stated: “The American delegation has met Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari in his ministry headquarters. The statement added that during the meeting both sides discussed the strategic framework of the American-Iraqi relations and its obstacles. Zebari confirmed on the Iraqi caring to exceed these hampers and facilitate it. The American official statement declared that the country is interested in supplying Iraqi security forces in order to complete its weapon and defensive system according to US laws, implementing the bilateral contracts signed between both countries. The statement mentioned that both sides included the regional and international situation, and latest development in the Syrian crisis, confirming on exchanging visits between both countries.
