Washington - Arab Today

U.S. airstrikes have targeted large groups of Daesh fighters in recent days, killing some 250 militants in separate strikes around Iraq, according to U.S. military officials.
Wall Street Journal reported U.S. military and defense officials said U.S. and coalition airplanes spotted groups of Daesh fighters, up to a couple dozen men, massing in recent days.
“If we see enemy forces attempting to mass, we will strike those forces,” Col. Steve Warren, the chief Pentagon spokesman, said.
The U.S. classifies groups of about 30 men as “large tactical units.” The U.S. said this week it struck multiple large groups of fighters outside Fallujah, Sinjar and Kirkuk. Smaller tactical units were struck in Mosul, Kirkuk, al Asad base, Ramadi, Haditha and elsewhere.
A large number of fighters were also recently killed in Syria in a strike on a training camp north of Raqqa. The militants were believed to be newly recruited foreign fighters. They were in a courtyard area when the U.S. struck, according to an official.
