Tunis - Azhar Jarboui
A Tunisian court has moved to delay a case for defendants involved in violence outside the US embassy in Tunis on May 28, according to sources. The incident led to the deaths of four Salafists, while another 49 security officers were injured in clashes after extremists attacked the US headquarters in the Tunisian capital last year. Ansar al-Sharia leader Abu Iyad al-Tunisi delivered a message to the Tunisian government calling for a change in approach to Salafists inside the country, meanwhile threatening to “declare war” against the political establishment. US State Department officials have meanwhile classed Tunisia as one of the most dangerous countries in the world in 2013 alongside Lebanon, Kurdistan, Pakistan, Somalia and Syria. South Sudan, Mali and Nigeria all fared better than Tunisia in the new listings.
