Tunis – Azhar Jarboui
Tunisia's National Constituent Assembly (NCA) looks set to confirm the country's new cabinet, which will be led by former Interior Minister Ali Laarayedh. The new Prime Minister is expected to receive the assembly’s vote of confidence, with support from Laarayedh’s Ennahda party, Congress for the Republic (CPR) and the Democratic Forum for Labour and Liberties (Ettakatol) guaranteeing a comfortable majority of around 118 votes. The parliament are expected to hear Laarayedh’s first speech on Tuesday evening, in which he will lay out his government’s political, economic and social programme. According to the provisional Tunisian constitution, the assembly must either confirm or deny a proposed leader three days after it has been approved by the president. President Moncef Marzouki did so on Friday evening.
