Nouakchott - Mohammad Sharif Abeidy
The Parties of Treaty for the Peaceful Rotation of Power called on Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, to implement the results of the dialogue between the supporters of the president and some opposition parties. The conference was to deliver the rotating presidency to the head of the Sawab Party, Abdul Salam Ould Homra, succeeding the head of Waaem Party Beagle. The Parties of Treaty for the Peaceful Rotation of Power consisting of People's Progressive Alliance Party - headed by Parliament Speaker, Messaoud Ould Boulkheir, Waaem Party - headed by Beagle Ould Hmad, and Fadila Party - headed by Sheikh Ahmad Ibn Almaaly, all criticised the deterioration of the living conditions of the population. The Parties of Treaty for the Peaceful Rotation of Power blamed Abdel Aziz’s regime for the current issue and stated that it had failed to apply the results of the dialogue that was agreed upon last year in October. The statement of the parties of the Treaty revealed that one third of Mauritanians are living in tents, huts, 40% did not have safe drinking water, 50% were deprived of electricity, the unemployment rate was between 30 to 40% and nearly half of all Mauritanian families lived below the poverty line. The Parties of the Treaty accused the government of an undeclared election campaign that is led by military figures, saying that this will lead to losing the will to participate in an electoral process. that gone off course before its start. They also discussed the situation in Mali, issued a special statement declaring their refusal to affect the territorial integrity of Mali and called on Mali parties to engage in a dialogue to solve their differences. The parties of the Treaty demanded the Mauritanian authorities to take all possible measures to protect its citizens and their property in the border areas between the two countries.
