Suez - Sayed Abdellah
The Centre Party has declared its full support for Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi's decisions to impose a curfew and declare a state of emergency in the provinces of Suez, Port Said and Ismailia. The hard-line Hazemoun movement has meanwhile announced an initiative to take to the streets of Suez and help army forces enforce the decisions. The Centre Party and Hazemoun condemned the acts of violence and "vandalism" and the police's "intentionally weak response in protecting the country." The Centre Party's statement called on Suez's revolutionary parties [to whom the statement referred as "the companions of the square"] to return to "constructive national dialogue." The statement also asked that "the political cover" is lifted from "those who are instigating disorder" for the best interests of the people of Suez and the country. Meanwhile, the Suez chapter of the Hazemoun movement [named after hard-line Salafist preacher Hazem Salah Abu Ismail] announced an initiative on its Facebook page asking members to take to the streets of Suez to help army personnel enforce the decisions.
