Cairo – Akram Ali

Protesters in Tahrir square called on the Egyptian masses to participate in another million-strong demonstration tomorrow, Tuesday 12th July, in an attempt to put more pressure on Prime Minister Essam Sharaf’s government, and the Military Council, to implement the demands of the revolution as quickly as possible. 36 different forces were demonstrating in Tahrir Square; most notably the National Assembly for Change, the Egyptian National Council, The 6th of April Movement, and the Federation of the Revolutionary Youth. They have threatened to take more serious actions if their demands are not met within a week - starting from today. One of the demonstrators in the square told “Arabs today” that many of the political forces in the area, and large proportion of the protesters have agreed on the organization of a million-strong demonstration tomorrow, rather than relying on Friday alone to stage the protests. They intend to apply pressure in the same way that demonstrators did at the time of the Revolution and before Mubarak stepped down." He added, "Our demands are the same, and everyone know it. First of all we want fair and fast trials for all the figureheads of corruption. We also want to rid the Ministry of the Interior of all corrupt elements, restoring the dignity of the Egyptian citizen."
