Khartoum - Abedalgoum Ashmeag

Sudan's government has approved proposals submitted by former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, to help overcome the current crisis with South Sudan. The Sudanese government has accused South Sudan of supporting rebel movements fighting against the Sudanese regime. Spokesperson for the Sudanese government Abu Bakr Al Sidig said that his government expressed its "readiness to execute proposals" submitted by the African mediator, in order to end the current crisis between Juba and Khartoum. Proposals include formation of an advisory staff to determine the demilitarised area. It also authorises the African Union Commission to take necessary steps to reveal attempts adopted by the two governments to support insurgents. Sudan and South Sudan have been advised to provide all the necessary information to the African committee in order for the union to "take serious steps" in dealing with the issue.
