Sixty nurses receive certification from the Canadian Nurses Association

 The Dubai Health Authority, DHA, has honoured sixty nurses who completed nursing specialisation certification from the Canadian Nurses Association, CNA, in two specialisations emergency/trauma and nephrology/dialysis.

Humaid Al Qatami Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the DHA honoured the nurses during a ceremony held at Rashid Hospital Medical Library.

Al Qatami stressed the importance of the certification as it provides patients and their families with validation that the nurse caring for them has demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in a complex specialty area.

"DHA spares to effort in raising the competencies of nurses as they are the backbone of any successful medical system," he said.

Al Qatami also said the certification demonstrates an individual's commitment to a profession and provides nurses with a sense of pride and professional accomplishment.

The nurses were able to achieve the certification credentials after undergoing specialised education, ongoing learning and clinical experience in a specialty area, and a qualifying exam.

The CNA has collaborated with the DHA to expand their programme for the first time out of North America and the nurses were the first batch to receive this certification in the Middle East.
