Islamabad - Agencies
The Pakistani government is set to deport former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s three wives and children to Saudi Arabia after their jail terms ends. They have been sentenced to 45 days in prison for illegal residency in Pakistan and fined 110 dollars each, their lawyer Aamir Khalil said. "They are likely to be deported to Saudi Arabia on April 18, as their sentence ends on April 17," Khalil said on Friday. The three widows and the children were among the 16 people detained after the US raid on bin Laden’s compound, where he was hiding in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad in May 2011. Two of the wives are Saudi nationals and the youngest, Amal Ahmed Abdul Fateh is from Yemen. It is still unclear whether the Yemeni widow would be transfered to her country of origin or stay in Saudi Arabia. It is not known whether Saudi Arabia will allow them to enter the country. Bin Laden himself was stripped of his Saudi citizenship in 1994 for terrorist activities and for criticism of the Al Saud dynasty. The former al-Qaeda leader is claimed to have been killed by US forces in his compound and buried at sea. This is while, emails leaked from the US-based global security think tank, Stratfor, obtained by hacker group Anonymous, suggest that Osama Bin Laden was not buried at sea but instead flown to US for cremation.
