Tunis - Arab Today

The National Guard station and the police district in Douz were torched Friday evening after a group of people stormed these premises, TAP news agency reported on its website.

“Though security forces used tear gas and fired warning shots, this group of people managed to storm the premises of the National Guard and the police before setting fire to them," said Spokesman for the Interior Ministry Mohamed Ali Laroui.

He added that attackers also torched two vehicles of the National Guard and police.

“Security forces are tirelessly attempting to bring the situation under control,” he further said.

A curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. was decreed in the city of Douz, Governorate of Kebili as of Friday.
