In the past few hours, Algerian army found a large quantity of explosives and heavy weapons in the eastern province of Boumerdes and Batna. According to the statement of the Algerian Ministry of Defense, Algerian army, in the two provinces, which are witnessing intensive activity of the dormant cells of Al Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb, found 80 kg of explosive substances and a mortar shell.
This finding suggests that the dormant cells stationed in the highlands of the east and west of the country are striving to sink Algeria with heavy weapons. On the other hand, the Algerian army managed to arrest 13 smugglers in the southern province of Tamanrasset on the border with Mali and Niger, and seized two vehicles, 11 metal detectors and a satellite device.
In the eastern part of the country, a number of illegal immigration attempts by 34 people aboard traditional boats have been thwarted, while 22 illegal migrants from different African nationalities have been arrested in Tindouf and Elysee on the border with Libya.
