Tripoli - Emad Agag

A department of Libya's national guard had been opened in Bani Walid city (180km south of the Libyan capital of Tripoli), according to a member of the Information Committee of the Bani Walid Local Council, Mahmoud Boras. The move came about as a result of the security breakdown in the city, said Boras. Boras told "Arabstoday" that the opening of a department of Libya's national guard came after the city saw clashes with the rebels of “Aljomaa Market” or “Friday Market” in Tripoli. He also thanked the efforts of Tariq Darman, a member of the Military Council in Bani Walid, who appointed Abdul Mutallab Al-Sunni Al-Rabbasi as a commander of the department. The department is now working on selecting young volunteers to join after special military and security training. On the other hand, Boras said that the Al-Ihssan battalion from the National Guard has secured the transfer of six million Libyan dinars from the Central Bank of Libya in Tripoli to the Bank of the Republic in Beni Walid to solve the city's financial woes. Clashes in the city occurred in November between residents and the rebels of  the “Aljomaa Market”, when 13 were killed from Aljomaa Market rebels and four from Bani Walid.
