Beirut - Georges Chahine
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati declared his government would resign once a law forming the next government had been drafted, calling on all parties to enter dialogue on an agreement on parliamentary elections. During an interview with Al-Arabiya, the Prime Minister told how the current government was working hard to ensure stability. Mikati claimed he was working to hold elections before the end of June, stressing the need for cooperation between parties. The Prime Minister revealed he would not be standing in the next election. Recent clashes in Tripoli around the Syrian crisis reflected old differences, he said. The challenges facing Lebanon required sitting down together to bring about serious reconciliation between conflicting parties.
