Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah accepted, Sunday, the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and issued an Amiri Decree to that effect, virtue of article 57 of the Kuwaiti Constitution, according to Kuwait News Agency KUNA. "We sought to push ahead with development and spared no effort throughout our limited tenure ... And I duly note the effort and attention the members of cabinet exerted at such a critical time of our homeland's history," the outgoing premier said. Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak was appointed Premier on November 30, 2011, following Kuwaiti Amir's decision to accept resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. In his statement, the senior official noted this resignation is the proper step following the Amir's decision to call the nation to vote and select its representatives in parliament anew on February 2, 2012. The outgoing premier recalled that the elections were held in all transparency and integrity, and that the 14th term of the National Assembly is thus called to convene with the new ministerial lineup. Kuwaiti Amir subsequently issued an Amiri Decree stating on approval of Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah's resignation, based on Articles 56, 57, 103, and 129 of the Kuwaiti Constitution. The decree also stated the deposed ministers are to address urgent matters of their previous portfolios till the new cabinet lineup is announced. The decree is effective as of date of issue, and is to be communicated to the National Assembly and published in the official gazette. Article 57 of the Kuwaiti Constitution states that, "The Cabinet is re-constituted in the manner specified in the preceding Article at the beginning of every legislative term of the National Assembly.
