Ramallah - Nihad Al Taweel

US Secretary of State, John Kerry is expected to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, to continue Palestine-Israel negotiation efforts. Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said in press statements on Sunday that President Mahmoud Abbas will meet John Kerry in the next two days in the Jordanian capital Amman or West Bank's Ramallah. The meeting comes in light of Palestinian pessimism revolving around Kerry's inability to resolve the conflict between the two countries, despite talks to do so. Kerry had asked Abbas for more time to persuade Israel to stop illegal settlements, but no progress was made. Israeli Deputy Defence Minister, Danny Danon, told Times of Israel newspaper a few days ago that the current Israeli government "does not want a solution for the two countries." Danone affirmed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for resumption of peace negotiations, despite the government's objections, as they know that "Israel will not reach an agreement with the Palestinians.” Netanyahu has called on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to return to the negotiation table, expressing his readiness to discuss the Arab peace initiative.
