Amman - Iman Abu Kaoud

Jordan's main Islamist political party, the Islamic Action Front (IAF), has urged Jordanians to develop an awareness of the state's economic policy, adding that the Social Security Corporation (SSC) could help secure citizen's assets for the future. In a statement, the IAF criticised Jordanian ambassadors for their lavish lifestyles abroad, and said the government must consider alternatives to developing nuclear energy. The party criticised the Jordanian government for ignoring the plight of Jordanian prisoners in Israel, despite being aware of Israel's heavy-handed approach, adding that the Israeli government had deprived the prisoners of their basic rights. The Islamist movement condemned Israeli President Shimon Peres recent visit to Amman for the World Economic Forum (WEF). The party accused Israel of setting Jordanian farms alight. IAF also accused the Syrian regime of using chemical weapons against its own people during the Syrian uprising, and called on the international community to unite and bring an end to the "massacre of innocent Syrians." "The international community refuses to protect the Syrian people and continues to provide security to Israel," the Islamist party's statement said.
