Baghdad - Jaafar Al Nasrawi
Delegates from the Iraqi National Coalition met with Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq on Thursday to discuss the recent developments witnessed in the Iraqi arena. Mutlaq’s office issued a statement that the Deputy Prime Minister received a delegation from the Iraqi National Coalition on Thursday, adding that the two sides discussed the current political situation and ways to respond to the Iraqi demonstrators' demands. Iraqi parliamentarian Jawad al-Hassnawy told Arabstoday that the position adopted by the Sadrist Trend in relation to the current crisis between the Iraqi List and the State of Law Coalition is neutral. He added that the trend would not support a political component at the expense of others, adding that they would work to serve the interests of the Iraqi people. Al-Hasnawy added that the meeting aims to end the Iraqi List boycott of the sessions of Iraq’s Cabinet and to bridge the gap witnessed in the Iraqi government, as the Iraqi Prime Minister has decided to suspend the work of a number of ministers. He added that the Sadrist Trend prevented the isolation of the Iraqi List from the country's political scene by refusing to bear the responsibility of the ministries led by members of the Iraqi List, paving the way for them to end their boycott. He expressed their support for the demands raised by the demonstrators, describing them as legal demands. He stressed that such demands would serve the interests of the country, adding that there is a need to confront attempts aiming to create a new dictatorial regime.
