Hundreds of the Iranians living in Iraq have turned to polling stations in six Iraqi governorates to vote in the Iranian presidential election. Political observers have praised the high voter turnout among Iranian communities living in Iraq, adding that it shows Iranian people value their democratic rights A senior official from the Iranian embassy in Baghdad said that nine poll stations had opened across six Iraqi provinces for Iranian nationals to cast their vote. The official predicted that around 20,000 thousands Iranians would cast their votes in Iraq. The Iranian diplomat explained that polling stations had opened at 0800 hrs and would close their doors at 2000 hrs, adding that by early evening, around 70 percent of Iranian had voted. Polling station manager at Dar al-Salam hotel in Baghdad, Ahmed Abdel-Malek said that more than 1100 Iranians had cast their votes by midday. He explained that the standard requirement for any voter was to show their personal documents. Iranian election supervisor in Iraq, Mohamed Alani said that the voter turnout in Iraq showed the willingness of Iranian nationals to embrace the opportunity for change.
