Gaza – Mohammed Habib
Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has confirmed that it will continue efforts to "end the suffering of Palestinian prisoners" and ensure their freedom. Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri in a press conference on Monday evening in Gaza commemorate the legendary the prisoners' commitment to their strike and thanked Palestiniana for their support. He also expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian role, particularly the general intelligence service which helped in the prisoner swap deal. He pointed out that Hamas was concerned for the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons since the first day and had worked with other politicla factions to secure their safety. He pointed out that a delegation of the movement's leadership had reached Cairo at the beginning of the strike , led by politburo chief Khaled Meshaal, to ensure Israel was pressured to accept the prisoner exchange deal.  He also noted the arrival of another Hamas delegation Cairo to discuss the developments of the draft agreement to achieve the prisoners' demands. According to Abu Zuhri, a delegation of ex-detainees, which included representatives of all factions, arrived in Cairo and held numerous meetings with officials in Egypt, headed by the secretary-general of the Arab League Nabil al-Arabi.  A leader in the Islamic Jihad movement, Sheikh Khaled El- Batsh, said the agreement between the strike leadership and the Israeli Prison Service was incomplete as it did not include the freedom of prisoners on hunger strike for nearly 78 days including Bilal Diab, Thaer Hlahalh and Jafar Izz al-Din and others. Batsh clarified that the movement's response towards the agreement would be announced after the meeting, which is currently being held between the leadership of the strike and lawyer Jawad Boulos, who represents Diab and Halhala.
