Beirut – Georges Chahine
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, left Beirut Friday for Germany after a series of official meetings with President Michel Suleiman, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. However he did not meet with his Lebanese counterpart Adnan Mansour. European diplomatic sources told Arabstoday that the German minister met Thursday in the embassy with a number of businessmen, political and economical figures from different parties of the March 14 alliance, discussing the region after the Syrian revolution erupted. The sources, said that the German guest affirmed that his country adopts the views which call for Syrian regime change through diplomatic efforts, and if the diplomatic efforts don't work, there will be other options to think about.
