Beirut - Georges Chahine

Lebanese MP and senior member of the Kataeb party, Nadim Bashir Gemayel has responded to the comments made by Hezbollah's Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah. The latter announced on Thursday that his Syrian allies would provide his forces with weapons with which to respond to recent Israeli airstrikes on Damascus. The statements made by the Hezbollah leader could "drag Lebanon into war" members of a pro-Western coalition have said. Gemayel has cautioned against this attitude of the secretary-general, warning against the seriousness of the situation. Nadim said: "Hezbollah has become like a tool in the hands of the Syrian regime,” pointing out that by sending weapons from Syria to Lebanon will benefit Hezbollah more than anything.
