Tunis - Azhar Jarboui
International Association for Political Prisoners has claimed that ministers part of former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali 's regime are willing to apologise to the people of Tunisia. The international body added that several figures from the regime will say sorry in court. Meanwhile, Tunisian parliamentarian Karim Karifa has urged authorities to release former Defence Minister Reda Qarira due to his deteriorating health conditions. The Initiative Party MP said that although he does not want to interfere in judicial affairs, he would urge authorities to review Qarira's health as a matter of urgency. Tunisian Minister of Human Rights and Transitional Justice Samir Dilou said that Qarira had refused a medical check-up without any justification. He added that the judiciary would only be able to make any decision after reviewing the medical reports. Seven ministers from Ben Ali's regime have been in prison since the 2011 uprising.
