Fatah evacuates Ein el-Hilweh HQ

Fatah al-Intifada has evacuated its headquarters in Ein el-Hilweh’s Fawqani Street to ease tensions following fierce interfactional disputes between Palestinian organisations over the Syrian conflict. Fatah al-Intifada handed over the building to four families displaced from the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus, after 19 organisation members vacated the premises. The news comes amid fears of a potential attack on Fatah al-Intifada’s headquarters, following recent attacks on As-Sa’iqa and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine [PFLP] organisational buildings. Fatah al-Intifada is the third Palestinian faction loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime to close headquarters in Ein el-Hilweh. The closures follow growing rumours of defections from pro-Assad Palestinian factions.
