Tunis - Nabil Zaghdoud
The ruling Ennahda party in Tunisia has denied allegations that Palestinian resistance movement Hamas is movings its leadership headquarters to Tunisia, on the back of frequent visits of the movements' representatives to Tunisia since Ennahda took power there. The Tunisian News Agency (TAP), quoted the head of Ennahda's political board, Amer Leireed, saying: "This issue has never been suggested in the meetings held with the Hamas officials who visited Tunisia recently." "More than one Palestinian delegation visited the Ennahda party's headquarters last week, the most recognisable being Hamas's foreign relations director, Osama Hemdan, and former Palestinian foreign minister Nabil Shaath, who is also a member of Fatah's Central Board," Leireedi said. Leireedi said that discussions between his party's officials and the Palestinian delegations from both Fatah and Hamas was related to the effect of the Arab Spring revolutions on the Arab nation's causes, particularly the Palestinian cause, and the application of the Doha agreement which included the formation of a transitional government led by the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Leireed denied that Hamas's advisory council will hold a session in Tunisia by the end of April, saying he had no information about that. Several Hamas officials have visited Tunisia recently, including Osama Hemdan, the head of Hamas's parliamentary bloc, MP Salah al-Bardaweel, and MP Mosheer al-Masry.
