Cairo - Akram Ali
Egypt’s opposition National Salvation Front [NSF] has blamed President Mohammed Morsi for “violence and torture” allegedly carried out by the country’s security forces, accusing the leader of bearing “criminal responsibility” amid ongoing violent clashes around Cairo’s presidential compound. The NSF denounced the “systematic” sexual harassment of “peaceful female demonstrations” in a statement on Sunday, after a video emerged of a gang rape outside the Ittihadiya on Friday night. The group claimed President Morsi bore “full responsibility” for the violence declaring its “full solidarity” with the victims of “violence and torture in the streets.” Egypt’s National Council for Human Rights meanwhile met with Hamada Saber, the protester who was filmed being stripped, dragged and beaten by Central Security Forces on Friday, to directly report cases of violence to President Morsi.
