ex-president Hosni Mubarak
Cairo - Mustafa al-Khuwaylidy

The Egyptian Court of Cassation has acquitted ex-president Hosni Mubarak on charges of complicity in deaths of protesters during the unrest in 2011, local media reported.

In June, 2015, the court upheld the complaint of the Attorney General on the acquittal and ordered a retrial. All other defendants, including former Interior Minister Habib Adly, were finally acquitted.

The trial session witnessed,  for the first time the presence Mubarak's sons, Alaa and Gamal Mubarak, not to the side of their father inside the cage, but in the seats of the court, after the Court of Cassation agreed to extract permits for them to attend the session.
