Egypt reports 900 presidential registrations

The judicial High Elections Commission supervising Egypt's presidential elections said that 900 citizens have registered as potential presidential candidates after only 10 days of opening registrations. Majority of the applicants are no very well-known to the Egyptian public, most of whom have no prior experience in politics. It remains to be seen how many of them are sincere to run for Egypt's reform. The Secretary-General of the Commission, Hatem Begato, said that “the commission received two complaints”. One of the complaints was for presidential hopeful Mohamed Salim Al-Awa, who was allegedly offering cash in exchange for support for his bid. Begato added in a press statement on Monday evening that candidate Fouad Mohamed Moussa filed a complaint against a number of potential candidates for having violated the campaigning ban and offering money for support. The commission forwarded the complaint to the Attorney General.
