The Muslim Brotherhood's Supreme Guide, Mohammed Badie, and other officials met with the politburo chief of Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Khaled Meshaal, who is on a visit to Egypt. The Brotherhood said in a statement: "Meshaal has praised the Egyptian elections and called it representative of a politically informed people, saying all the Arab world awaited Egyptian developments as an ideal model to be followed for unity, freedom, and democracy." The delegations met in Mokatam, east Cairo, and discussed the latest developments in Gaza-based Hamas's anticipated political reconciliation with West Bank-based Fatah. Hamas praised Egypt's role as mediator in the talks between Hamas and Fatah, while Badie said reconciliation was essential to present a united front against Israel. Former Brotherhood leader and Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi met Meshaal last Thursday in the presidential palace to follow up on bilateral issues.
