Baghdad intensifies security for Muharram

The Operations Command is on high alert as Baghdad prepares to celebrate the tenth of Muharram. The Commander of the Central Euphrates, General Othman Ghanimi said that the security plan that has been put into place to secure the visit in Karbala - which can attract up to 3 million people - is top priority and all security has been implemented in the vital places. Ghanimi told Arabstoday that some people were trying to raise doubts about the ability of security forces, which the Commander noted as unacceptable adding that around 30,000 well equipped security members will be located all around Karbala during the ceremony. The governor of Karbala expressed her hopes in the smooth running of the event, stating that the security forces were fully experienced and competent enough.
