Algeria kills 7 militants entering from Libya

Algerian army forces killed seven militants who  tried to sneak into Algeria from Libya and Niger  trying to carry out two attacks separated.  A  news report said on Monday that the Algerian army killed five gunmen who had infiltrated from neighbouring Libya. A security source said that helicopters attacked on Saturday night last SUVs coming  Libya. Five gunmen whose nationality remains unknown were killed and their equipement including riffles and night vision binoculars were confiscated. The Algerian army may move large forces to the counties of Illizi and Tamanrasset  which border  Libya, Niger, Mali, announcing the launch of a major military operation in the coming months to sweep large areas of the desert, especially after the deterioration of the situation in Libya, and entrusted the file against al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, to the retired general Osman Tirtaq. The general was appointed in 2007 - to eliminate the last groups of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, which still operated in the north of the country in a bid  to prevent the spread of terrorism on the border with Libya, Niger and Mali.
