Beirut – Georges Chahine
Al Meqdad spokesman Maher Meqdad announced that the family in Lebanon would stop its military operations on all Lebanese territories. He added that there is no coordination between them and any other side. He stressed that the family has had enough of the kidnappings from the free Syrian army. He pointed out that more than 20 Syrians were abducted and that his family has not kidnapped any Gulf citizens. He continued: “We are not responsible for the abductions that took place in Chtaura and Bekaa and other areas." Meqdad accused a "fifth column" of participating in the line of the kidnapping operations. He condemned the abductions of the two Syrian Al Rasariya channel employees. MP Dr Ali Meqdad , 'Loyalty to Resistance Bloc' representative joined a TV debate with one of his opponents. The latter opposed to the kidnappings carried out by Al Meqdad against 'innocent people'. He argued that Al Meqdad family has not assigned a specific person to talk on its behalf and it doesn't carry out any of these riots. He asked the cameraman to stop filming during the meeting. The argument turned into a physical fight and the program had to be interrupted. The fight carried on between members of the family and heavy gunfire was heard in the surrounding area of the headquarters of the Association in the southern suburbs. Al Meqdad’ name prevailed the headlines of the newspaper on Thursday for the second day after it showed control on the ground and imposed terror on the airport road and other areas of Lebanon, leading to another move by Sunni insurgents to block Masnaa road on the border between Lebanon and Syria It was reported on Thursday afternoon that journalist Joseph Abu-Fadil was attacked in his car while crossing from Syria to Lebanon. He is accused of supporting the Syrian regime in Lebanon. Al Meqdad announced that the release of the Turkish hostage is linked to the release of Hassan Meqdad. The family declared that their target was Turkey and the Free Syrian Army. The family insisted after its meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour, that the Saudi and Qatari nationals were their people in Lebanon, stressing that their target is Turkey and the Syrian free army. Abu Ali Meqdad was astonished that Mansour asked for the kidnapped Turkish citizen while ignoring the kidnapped Lebanese Hassan Meqdad in Damascus. In a related development, the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation (LBCI) showed a videotape of the kidnapped Syrians in Lebanon by a group calling itself "Saraya al-Mohktar brigades." The kidnapped introduced themselves in the video. One of the kidnapped supported the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad and the Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. In other news, the Lebanese security forces took strict security measures around the houses and palaces of Saudi and Qatari officials because of the threats launched against them.
