Beirut - George Shaheen
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Al-Hariri has confirmed that his return to Lebanon will be at the right time and that he eagerly anticipates it. Al-Hariri talked about the situation in Syria, where he said that Syrian President  Bashar Al-Assad is not going through his best days, and that the Syrian regime will not change itself  unless it’s “completely revamped.” The former president and the leader of Almostaqbal party, Al-Hariri chose to speak to people via Twitter where he was surprised to find out he had 7000 followers, and initiated a conversation regarding the situation in Syria and the common interests. Al-Hariri said on Twitter: “If someone wants to ask a question, I will be available for some time.” He also confirmed that his return to Lebanon will be at the right time saying: “I want it to be really soon.” His return and the situation in Syria were the dominant questions in the conversation which lasted for 90 minutes, where Al-Hariri used his computer and his iPhone. Al-Hariri didn’t try to change his position towards the Syrian regime, but was clear and honest, saying: “The Syrian regime will not change itself unless it has been replaced” Al-Harir stressed: “The Syrian nation will win at the end, and the most important thing is to revolt in a peaceful way, and we did that in Lebanon.” The general secretary of Hezbollah , Hassan Nasrallah supports Al-Assad’s regime till the end, but the change has to come, and we shouldn’t be scared of it.” During the conversation, there were questions about the Almostaqbal party’s finances, to which he said: “We are not pretending to be the perfect party, but I thank with all my heart everyone who works in the party, including men and women, for all the efforts they made, and we learn from our mistakes.” Regarding a question about the delay of the salaries payment, he said: “I’m sorry for that and I promise you that this will not happen again.” During the interaction , Al-Harir received many calls asking him to return, saying “ We miss you, we need you to be amongst us.” He replied: “Our slogan is Lebanon comes first, and I’m aware that some people don’t want me to come, but I will come this time and stay for good.” He also confirmed his commitment to the Islamic- Christian partnership, in which the former president, Rafik Al-Harir believed. He said: “I will continue working on it.”
