Arab Today, arab today Al-Bashir: Sudan keen on Egypt’s security

Khartoum - Arab Today

Sudan's President Omar Hassan al-Bashir asserted on Sunday his country’s keenness on Egypt’s stability and security. In a press conference, al-Bashir pointed out that the Egyptians are the only people who are capable of solving their own problems. He reiterated his stance to not interfere in Egypt’s domestic affairs as Egypt does not interfere in Sudan’s domestic affairs. Al-Bashir unveiled the features of political, security and economic work plan in the coming phase in Sudan, which is based on several main points including achieving security, stability as well as demolishing tribal conflicts in the African state in 2014. He also asserted the country’s keenness to reach an overall national reconciliation that gathers all political parties as well as setting a new constitution. He pointed out that negotiations over Darfur crisis will be within the framework of Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. Al-Bashir also said that South Sudan president’s visit to Khartoum has achieved great outcomes for both countries. Sudan will never normalize its relations with Israel, al-Bashir said, pointing out that the US as well as other countries have pressed on Sudan to normalize relations with Israel to help it surpass the country’s economic crisis. He further added that US is still enlisting Sudan as one of the states that sponsor terrorism although all US security apparatuses have asserted that Sudan is out of that list. Al-Bashir pointed out that Arab investments continue to pour into Sudan due to Arabs’ trust in the country’s future. Source: MENA
