Cairo - Akram Ali
The Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammad Al-Arabi said that he was honoured to work as the deputy to the Egyptian Ambassador in occupied Jerusalem, adding that any ambassador that represents Cairo abroad is part of the only defense for his country, and should be proud of his position. Al-Arabi added during the conference, named "Forum-Riad Nile", and organized by the Saudi Embassy in Cairo, that he did not understand the reasons behind all the attacks currently being made on him. He defended himself by saying that he took over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the worst conditions ever experienced by Egypt. Amr Moussa, former Secretary of the League of Arab States, who was visited by ministers on Wednesday, confirmed that Al-Arabi was less than fortunate having been appointed to the Ministry during this phase. Al-Arabi wept in front of the audience as he defended himself against an attack that exposed him as a follower of the former regime, insinuating that he had only gained his position as he is the son of the famous General Ibrahim Al-Arabi. Al-Arabi confirmed that he did not know whether or not he would remain in his position with the re-shuffle, and with new ministers coming in. He joked around with the Saudi Ambassador in Cairo, Ahmad Qattan, telling him, "If I'm fired from my position then I won't have to invite you back!”
