Baghdad – Jaafar Al Nasrawi
Twelve people have been killed and 26 others injured in a spate of suicide bombings in and around Iraqi capital Baghdad. The attackers struck coffee shops filled with football fans in quick succession at the start of the local weekend. Local police reported five people were killed and 17 wounded in Baghdad's largely Sunni Azamiyah neighbourhood, with another three dead and 14 wounded in the Shiite-dominated Umm al-Maalif district, in the southwestern suburbs of the capital. A third blast struck the Shiite town of Jbala, about 50 kilometres (35 miles) south of Baghdad, killing four and wounding 25. Hospital officials, speaking under anonymity, confirmed the casualty toll.
