Cairo - Arab Today

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail opened on Sunday “Egypt Can (Taa Marbouta)” conference that sheds light on the role played by Egyptian women abroad.

The two-day event, held under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, is organized by the Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs in cooperation with the National Council for Women (NCW).

The conference comes in conjunction with Sisi’s announcement of 2017 as the ‘year of Egyptian woman’.

It also comes as part of the “Al Taa Marbouta is your strength” awareness campaign launched by the NCW during the month of Ramadan to support and empower Egyptian women and highlight the importance of women's participation in all economic, political and social sectors.

Representatives of higher education, solidarity, justice, investment, international cooperation, health and military production ministries in addition to a large number of NGOs are taking part in the conference.

A number of female Egyptian expatriates, including Mona Shendi, commander in the Australian Navy Missile Defense, Azza Ali, member of the Australian parliament and Laila Bans, one of the top 100 economic consultants worldwide, will be present at the event.

The four female ministers in the Ismail-led government; Ghada Walli of Social Solidarity, Sahar Nasr of International Cooperation and Investment, Nabila Makram of Immigration and Hala el Saeed of Planning, will speak at the conference sessions.

The conference aims at exchanging expertise among Egyptian women who played a great role serving their country either at home or abroad to set role models for new generations of young women.
