Prime Minister Sherif Ismail opened on Wednesday the 50th Cairo International Fair, which is considered the largest trade exhibition ever held in the Arab region.

CIF - due to last until March 24 - coincides with Egypt's golden jubilee celebrations which mark the Egyptian Television's airing for the first time.

It also coincides with the 60th anniversary of establishing the Egypt Expo and Convention Authority (EECA).

Kenya, Togo, Sudan, Algeria, Iraq, Sri Lanka, China, Kuwait, Libya, Tanzania take part in CIF this year.

Africa is the honorary guest of the event which is held under the slogan of '' Egypt: Gate of Trade and Investment''.

CIF is a well-established multi-sector trade event that has in the last forty seven years provided a unique platform for marketing products and services. It has enabled participants from overseas to introduce new and improved technologies on Egypt and Middle East markets.

CIF’s business success is demonstrated by the increased participation of exhibitors from both the foreign and in the host country. CIF 2016 attracted more than 800 exhibitors from 15 countries and the number of visitors was more than one million.
