An open strike will begin on Sunday
Ramallah - Agencies

An open strike will begin on Sunday Employees at government universities and colleges across Palestine announced Saturday that they are due to start further strike action. An open strike will begin on Sunday, a statement from the employees union said, and a large gathering will take place in front of the Palestinian Legislative Council in Ramallah on Tuesday.
The main demand of employees is a salary increase to match colleagues working in other Palestinian universities.
"The news disseminated on media outlets about the crisis nearing an end are untrue as the union hasn’t received any official response or suggestion to end the crisis," the union said.
The union of employees represents Al-Aqsa University in Gaza, Palestine Technical College, Palestinian technical colleges in Deir Al-Balah, Arroub refugee camp and Ramallah, as well as the Science and Technology College in Khan Younis and Al-Ummah College in Jerusalem.
Employees have been undertaking strike action since February in an attempt to have their demands met.
"The events will continue and will vary to achieve our goals which we have been demanding for six years now while workers and their families have been suffering in universities and governmental colleges due to their low incomes," head of the employees union Khayriyya Hamadnah had said earlier in February.
