Upon the directives of President Bashar al-Assad, a government delegation, headed by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, started a visit to Deir Ezzor and Raqqa provinces in the eastern region.

During the visit, the delegation will inaugurate a number of services and developmental projects, as well as rehabilitation projects and following-up the implementation of the human development plan in the higher education and education sectors.

Members of the delegation began their tour by visiting Deir Ezzor Airport and met soldieries at one of the military formations where Khamis conveyed to them President al-Assad’s greetings and appreciation for their sacrifices in defending the homeland.

Khamis launched the production process in the oil field of Nishan, which was rehabilitated after the liberation of the city by the national cadres in the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, who collected the spare parts and equipment stolen by the armed terrorist groups.

In this regard, the production capacity of the Nishan field has reached 1100 barrels per day and work is underway to make the field reaches to its maximum capacity.

Members of the delegation were also informed about the educational status in the province which has witnessed a remarkable development after only one year of breaking the siege, where the number of active schools increased from 36 schools to 254.

They also reviewed the stages of implementation of the urban project of the city of Deir Ezzor, the removal of rubble, the opening of streets and the rehabilitation of sanitary sewage in al-Hamidiya neighborhood.

The Ministers met the supervisors of University of Euphrates and the University Council in order to enhance the educational process and rehabilitate infrastructure and secure all supplies according to specific time schedules in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education.

Khamis told reporters that the visit of the government delegation to Deir Ezzor province comes upon the instructions of President al-Assad to inspect the services and development projects launched by the government immediately after the announcement of the liberation of the province from terrorism by the Syrian Arab Army as a number of these projects have been completed.

He added that more projects will be launched during the coming year after the necessary funds have been allocated from the State’s Budget of 2019.

Prime Minister renewed the government’s keenness to re-launch the human development process in the province in accordance with an integrated plan to activate the role of educational, cultural and media institutions in the province in parallel with work on re-running the wheel of production and launching important economic and investment projects.

For his part, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Ghanem said during the tour at Nishan field that the ministry’s workshops entered the field after it was liberated from the terrorists and that due to the efforts of the national cadres, production doubled as the production of the other six liberated wells reached 4 thousand barrels per day.
