University officials refused students’ requests to scrap exams Ismailia – Yosry Mohamed Port Said University has extended winter break until February 15 to allow students time to recover psychologically from recent violence that has gripped the city. End-of-term exams have also been re-scheduled from February 16 to March 7, allowing students to catch up on their studies.
The decision was made after Port Said’s governor vowed to request military security on campus.
Port Said University’s student union released a statement in response to the board’s decision, demanding examinations be scrapped in their entirety in favour of graded classwork.
The University board reportedly refused, claiming students’ futures would be threatened.
