Tunis – Arabstoday

Journalists are often abused by the Tunisian police Tunis – Arabstoday Security forces in Tunisia will soon receive training in freedom of expression, a UNESCO report announced. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has signed an agreement with the United Nations’ initiative to ensure freedom of expression, freedom of press and the security of journalists in order to promote democracy in Tunisia.
The safety of journalists has become a priority in Tunisia if the democratic transition is to be successful, said the UNESCO report.
The security forces will be taught that journalists need to be protected, and that a critical form of journalism and media pluralism are highly desirable in a democratic state.
The training will be taking place in the next eight coming months.
