Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry
Cairo - Arab Today

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will leave for Tunisia Tuesday to attend meetings of the political negotiation mechanism committee between the two countries.

During his visit, Shourky will hold talks with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi, parliament speaker Mohamed al Nasser and Tunisian Foreign Minister Khomais al Jihnawi, said spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid Monday.

Shoukry will be discussing means to face common challenges, atop of which terrorism, Abu Zeid said.

The talks will also tackle border security, which is very much related to the Libyan crisis, the spokesman added.

Figuring high in the meetings will also be the latest Arab developments and mechanisms of joint Arab action, he made it clear.

Shoukry will also review efforts to render political settlements in Libya, Syria and Yemen successful, Abu Zeid said.

The meetings will also focus on the outcome of the meeting of foreign ministers of countries neighboring Libya, which was held in Cairo on Saturday, he said, noting that Egypt and Tunisia are the worst affected by the circumstances in Libya due to their geographical location.

Shoukry and the Tunisian officials will discuss a constructive role they can play, together with other neighbors of Libya, to reach a peaceful and consensual solution to the current crisis - one that would maintain Libya's unity, sovereignty, security and stability, the spokesman added.
